Structure and function of the visual system

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This tutorial examines the structure and function of the visual system from the retina through the visual cortex. The talk touches briefly on the techniques available for probing the system and it reviews the signal transformations that are undertaken at different levels in the visual pathway, relating these operations to perceptual function possible.
