Switchable, computer-generated holograms for image processing by using liquid crystals

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The key elements of the described devices are a computer generated phase hologram and a liquid crystal layer covering the structured hologram surface. The optical influence of the hologram can be controlled by applying an electrical field to these layers. The optimization algorithm for the required holograms, the fabrication of the devices and application examples are discussed.
