Abstract
A typical optical sight comprises a cemented doublet objective, an erecting prism, a graticule and an eyepiece. We are interested in using kinoforms in these devices for cost and weight reduction. To this end, we have replaced the objective in one of our rifle sights with a diamond-machined acrylic kinoform, so that we can evaluate the performance trade-offs.
