How to measure surface form and transmitted wavefront

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Optical components are toleranced for their surface form and/or optical wavefront deformation effects. This type of specification is verfied through interometric measurment. Typical specifications are discussed and then related to the measurement instrumentation and procedures used to verify the component performace, including actual use of interferometers.
