Evolving solitons in mode-locked fiber lasers

Abstract

The development of mode-locked fiber lasers has recently become the subject of intense research.1,2 While the output of these lasers can exhibit small shot-to-shot energy fluctuations, we show here that the output pulsewidths can fluctuate dramatically.
