Characterization of double-ion-exchanged waveguides in glass

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A detailed study of double ion exchange process in BK7 glass is performed. Slab waveguides are made by a first potassium ion exchange followed by a second silver ion exchange. Assuming a surface waveguide, the inverse WKB method is used to find the index profile.
