Abstract

Our experimental setup consists of a helium-neon laser whose beam passes through a modulator consisting of a Gian prism polarizer and a KDP crystal. The beam passes through the crystal four times before coming back through the polarizer where it is coupled into an optical fiber. The light emerging from the fiber is detected with a photomultiplier, and an amplified electrical signal is applied to the KDP crystal thereby achieving a negative feedback. Prior to amplification, the electrical signal is sampled six times per round trip time using a transient digitizer and stored on a computer.
