Abstract

Optical bistability in an infrared laser containing an intracavity saturable absorber (LSA) has been investigated in the static regime as a function of the control parameter governing the laser amplifier and absorber operations. Furthermore the switching dynamics between the bistable states has been studied in the critical slowing down regime when external noise was applied to the control parameter of either the amplifier or the absorber.
