Abstract

Switching fabrics may be (1) multistage architectures with shuffle interstage interconnections (Omega, Banyan) or the interconnection of nearest-neighbour switches (Spanke-Benes network, crossbar) or (2) tree structures where the latter presently are considered to be the most suitable from the point of view of a low attentuation of signals, crosstalk and insertion loss.
