N3 and N4 Virtual Optoelectronic Crossbar for Terabit Networks

Abstract

A 1000 × 1000 optoelectronic nonblocking virtual crossbar architecture is presented, which eliminates central switching within a network and distributes switching functionality. By utilizing high fan-in and fan-out and WDM technology, terabit bandwidths are realized.
