Abstract
The object of this work was to construct a write-once optical disk of trilayer design which exhibited high performance at low recording power, a property of particular importance for systems based on the GaAs Laser. In addition we sought an absorber material capable of replacing Te. Finally we wished to exploit rf sputtering techniques which, in our own experience, consistently yielded higher signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) than other deposition methods.
