Abstract

The ability to generate high quality lenses on the end of single mode optical fibers makes it possible to consider a large number of design changes in the development of a head for an optical disk system. It is these potential design changes which we wish to explore in discussing characteristics of a fiber optics head for an optical disk mass storage system.
