Abstract

A small optical head is necessary to improve the data transfer rate, access time, and recording capacity of optical disk memory. Recently, using an external cavity laser diode to make a small optical head has been proposed[1]. However, since this method is based on switching between spontaneous emission and laser oscillation due to the reflectance change of the medium, it cannot be used for magneto-optic media.
