High capacity optical disk drives are in production which conform to the ANSI proposal BSR X 3.191, known as the 130mm Write-Once Sampled Servo RZ Selectable Pitch Optical Disk Cartridge (reference 1). The capacity of these cartridges is 1280 million bytes available to the user, under ECC protection.
