Abstract
Single-beam overwriting up to 105 times has been achieved in phase-change optical discs with GeSbTeCo recording films.1 Major limiting factors of the number of overwriting cycles include local thickness change and void generation in recording films.2 This indicates that the film's melted material gradually flows along the recording trucks owing to the repetitions of laser irradiation.
