Abstract
Optical disk substrate molding involves using centuries-old inventions to mass-produce commodity products of the highest technology. As such, the process is required to fulfill three critical expectations. The substrate must be exceptionally flat. It must be precisely micro-, even nano-replicated. Finally in order to serve as a lens within the system, the substrate must be optically isotropic. This talk will discuss challenges and the state of the art of optical disk substrate processing.
