Abstract

During the past three decades holographic memory has received considerable attention as a possible massive data storage scheme. 1 In recent years, as system components (such as spatial light modulators and CCD or CMOS detector arrays) have matured, digital holographic memory systems have become realizable. This paper discusses in detail the performance characteristics of two such components, a digital micromirror device 2 (DMD) spatial light modulator (SLM) and a CMOS active pixel sensor 3 (APS) camera, in conjunction with the overall digital holographic memory (DHM) system in which they are employed.
