Hybrid optoelectronic integration with PLC platform

Abstract

A silica planar lightwave circuit (PLC) platform is expected to have three major application fields; 1)low-cost optical modules, 2)optical modules for high-speed signal processing, and 3)optical modules for WDM/FDM networks. This paper describes recent progress in PLC platform technology in these promising applications.
