Abstract
It is important to manipulate both the electron wave and the photon wave using nanostructures and microcavities for high speed electronics and optoelectronics as well as ultra-highly integrated memory and logic devices [1]. Towards this goal, nanofabrication technologies and nano-scale optical characterization techniques must be established. In this paper, we discuss our recent progress on these technologies and sciences together with the realization of microcavity quantum dot lasers.
