Abstract

Lasing characteristic was systematically measured with variation of a reverse bias on a saturable absorber in an external-cavity mode-locked laser. Characteristics of good mode-locking and self-optical-Q-switching operation are compared, and a recovery time of the saturable absorber is discussed.
