Abstract

A new kind of optical fiber adjustable attenuator made of metal cladding optical guide(MCOG) is reported . The MCOG's loss per length is about 0.04 ~ 0.16dB/mm when its diameter is 400 ~ 62 µm for 1.31 µm light. Its resolution can be up to 0.03dB.
