Newly designed 2×2 adiabatic coupler by suppression of undesirable modes

Abstract

A 2×2 coupler with an adiabatic structure designed for suppressing undesirable modes has been proposed. The design consideration has been certified useful by the demonstration of 4×4 star couplers with small PDL and wide wavelength-flattened-response.
