A Low Insertion Loss Arrayed Waveguide Grating with Transversal Transitional Waveguides

Abstract

We present a 4-channel AWG with transversal transitional waveguides to improve the mode mismatch in star couplers. The transversal transitional waveguides can effectively reduce the average insertion loss from 3.46 dB to 1.76 dB and the adjacent channels crosstalk by about 2.3 dB.
