Truncated spot size converters for silicon photonic wire waveguides

Abstract

We examined light propagation along the spot size converter of silicon photonic wire waveguides, and show there are two maxima in coupling efficiency. An optimal design was given in terms of compactness and high efficiency by changing its dimension and shape.
