Optical/Electrical Hybrid Switching for Datacenter Communications

Abstract

We discuss optical/electrical hybrid switching for datacenters. Our current prototype uses an optical circuit switched architecture based on a wavelength-selective switch (WSS) that has a measured mean host-to-host network reconfiguration time of 11.5 µs.
