Compact Fan-in/Fan-out Optical Devices for Multi-core Fiber Transmission

Abstract

A pair of compact fan-in and fan-out device is developed that connects 7-core multi-core fiber and seven single mode fibers. Insertion loss is below 0.6 dB. Polarization dependent loss less than 0.1 dB (@1550 nm), and cross talk better than −50 dB (@1550 nm) are realized.
