A Simple Receiving System Design for a 172.8-Gb/s Double-Sided Multiband Direct-Detected O-OFDM System

Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple doubled-sided multiband direct-detection optical OFDM receiving system. An aggregated 172.8-Gb/s data rate and a 2.73-b/s/Hz spectral efficiency of total 6 signal bands are carried by one optical carrier.
