Abstract

It is shown that in strongly coupled metallic nanodisks with a dielectric middle layer of tens of nanometers thickness and with a side-wall plasmonic coating, the usual optical magnetic resonant modes are eliminated and only pure magnetic toroidal-like modes are sustainable. All these modes can be interpreted as a interference effect from the gap surface plasmon polarition.
