Abstract

A new multifiber splicing technique for improved loss has been developed. A slippery fiber holder has made it possible to get a splicing loss of less than 0.15 dB as a mean value in multi-V-groove splicing. It seems that it will provide a compact and economical splicing technique to high-density multifiber cables in the near future.
