Abstract

Fusion splicing has been widely used, and it requires a rapid reinforcement technique of high reliability and small dimensions. Various types of reinforcement methods using adhesive have been studied; however, there are reliability problems. In this paper a small strong reinforcement technique free from adhesive is described. Nylon molding around the spliced fibers is one solution to the problem.
