Abstract
An important advancement in the state of the art of fiber-optic gyroscope systems involves the replacement of the bulk optic components used to date with guided-wave optic components. This circumvents the problem of tight alignment tolerances, allows flexibility in packaging, and reduces the total number of optical components.
