Abstract
Wavelength multiplexing in optical single-mode fibers is attractive for a large number of applications, such as signal processing and telecommunications. Only recently has the development of fiber-optic couplers made possible the experimental study of strong distributed interactions between single-mode fibers and the subsequent observation of wavelength multiplexing.1 We report here the operation of a tunable and low-loss fiber multiplexer using a single-mode fiber directional coupler.
