Single transient radiation damage to optical fibers from a fission source

Abstract

Radiation damage on optical fibers has been extensively studied with continuous radiation sources1 and pulsed x-ray2 and electron sources.3 None of these studies has a source which represents the temporal and spectral radiation history from a nuclear device.
