Abstract

In multimode fiber transmission systems using lasers, the carrier to noise ratio (CNR) is mainly determined by shot and thermal noise. As well as these two types of noise, additional noise such as laser noise or modal noise is not negligible, especially in analog transmission systems which require a high CNR.
