Abstract
Ability to emit high light outpout power is one of the most fundamental features which totally indicates the laser diode performance, because it is related to the efficiency, the thermal properties, the waveguiding properties and so on. In this paper, preliminary aging test results of 1.3 μm Fabry-Perot laser diodes are described, where the light output power is as high as 50 mW. Stable high power cw operation is also described for 1.3 μm and 1.5 μm single longitudinal mode DFB LDs with a first order grating.
