Abstract

A low-loss germanium oxide (GeO2) glass fiber is known to be an efficient fiber Raman laser because of the high cross section of Raman scattering. 1 In this paper, we describe efficient single-pass Raman generation in low-loss GeO2 optical fibers and measurement of the chromatic dispersion of single-mode optical fibers with these GeO2 fiber Raman lasers. Their usefulness was confirmed.
