Abstract

Many types of uniform linear phased coupled laser arrays have been reported.1-4 Although some have exhibited single spectral mode or single far-field lobe emission,1,2 in general the array outputs have been multilobed.3,4 The gain-guided uniform array structures reported do not appear to result reproducibly in a single-lobe output. Even in cases where a single far-field lobe was observed, spectral measurement revealed the presence of several longitudinal modes.
