Abstract

Rapid progress in the research and development of fiber cable and device technologies has resulted in the large-scale deployment of lightwave communication systems. Understanding the tradeoffs between the various subsystems of a lightwave system requires tools and techniques that are accurate and efficient. Prototype construction for these systems is becoming a costly approach.
