Abstract

Sodium and potassium were found in germania doped core part of VAD fiber in which a natural silica tube was over-jacketed as outer cladding layer while nothing was found when a systhetic silica tube replaced the natural silica tube. The existance of such alkalines are related to hydrogen induced loss increase in infrared wavelength region.(1)
