Hybrid Technology for Large SM Fibre Preforms

Abstract

A hybrid technology for preforms containing over 300 km of low-attenuation SM fibre has been developed. Only the important core region, i.e. <5%. of the fibre, is made by PCVD, the optical cladding consisting of tubes obtained from sintering routes.
