Abstract
The LAMBDANET architecture1,2 is a multiwavelength optical star network which is fully connected and internally nonblocking and allows the integration of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint broadband services. Each LAMBDANET node transmits on a unique wavelength, and a passive star coupler broadcasts the Information (Fig. 1). Wavelength demultiplexers at each node separate the individual wavelengths. We present experimental results intended to establish the feasibility and performance of optical components in the LAMBDANET design for node transmission bit rates up to 2 Gbit/s.
