Abstract

Homodyne detection of phase shift keying (PSK) offers advantages for lightwave transmission links and networks that will become increasingly important as the need for high system capacity increases. PSK homodyne offers the highest sensitivity of any binary signaling technique, 9 photons/bit in theory.
