Abstract

0.98-μm InGaAs strained single quantum well (SSQW) lasers have been found to be a promising candidate for the pumping source of Er3+-doped fiber optical amplifiers1,2. We hare achieved a maximum cw output power of 115 mW at 160 mA, which is, to our knowledge, the highest output value ever reported in single stripe lasers for efficient fiber coupling.
