High-power multiple quantum-well optical amplifiers

Abstract

The gain characteristics of optical amplifiers are mainly determined by the following three parameters: the small-signal gain coefficient go (in cm-1), the saturation energy Eg, and the saturation power Pg. These parameters are not independent and can be traded off against each other.
