Abstract

Various kinds of passive optical circuits are required in constructing fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) systems with high network efficiency and reliability. These circuits include optical splitters for branching optical signals, optical switches for changing optical paths, and wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) devices for introducing multiple optical channels into a single optical fiber.
