Abstract

Fiber Sagnac interferometer switches1-4 have been demonstrated in a number of different formats.1-3 Recently a polarization-based switch was shown,3,4 in which polarization rather than wavelength was used to distinguish the control beam from the signal beam. Identical devices with polarization-discriminated inputs ate true three-terminal devices and are therefore capable of being cascaded, as demonstrated in the circuit described here.
