Diode-pumped drive-current-controlled mode-locked fiber laser

Abstract

For a diode-pumped fiber laser it is essential to minimize the quantity of the cavity elements to reduce the losses. Here we describe a novel mode-locked fiber laser in which a laser diode (LD) has been used simultaneously as a pump source, an intracavity phase modulator, and an étalon to define the spectral characteristics of the system.
