Abstract

Refractive-index gratings can be written in GeO2-doped fibers and make it possible to fabricate many useful fiber devices, including laser sources, mode couplers, and sensors.1,3 Since any changes in grating properties can adversely affect device performance, it is important to assess grating reliability and ways to optimize grating stability.
