Abstract

Amplifiers are becoming a necessity in fiber communications. Glass integrated optics have already proven to be a fruitful and competitive technology for producing passive devices such as WDM’s and splitters. It is, therefore, attractive to check the potential of glass integrated optics for incorporating the amplifying function.
