Abstract

The 1990s are marking a new era for the evolution of the telecommunications industry. The influx of competition has created a discontinuity in the industry and has served as the impetus for the expansion of the overall market for telecommunications services. The new players in the industry include interexchange customers, competitive-access providers, enhanced-service providers, cellular companies, MSOs, and CPE vendors.
